awards in the same year has been brought to a new level of performance. InfiniVar
CFM-2/S is now infinity-corrected and can be equipped as a CentriTel Macro Lens with the REVERSO Option (see below). In addition, its resolution has been increased c.25%
over the previous model.

Now, back to the exciting news on InfiniVar itself...
InfiniVar CFM-2/S
Continuously-focusable from infinity down to 19mm, the InfiniVar CFM-2/S attains
9x primary magnification at its closest focus and, at 60mm, provides 1x primary
magnification on-sensor. Consequently, a movement of only 40mm equals a 9:1 zero-in
ratio. Moving InfiniVar CFM-2/S out further, a 36:1 zero-in ratio is possible from
180mm down to 19mm. Such adaptability allows the depth of field and magnification
to be combined for the best overall effects. InfiniVar CFM-2/S lets you
select the magnification, working distance, stand-off, resolution and depth of field
you wish—for a totally new experience in video microscopy.
Infinity-Correction and Format Matching
Infinity-correction not only provides the finest imagery, but also permits the use of Infinity Tube Lens Systems which screw into the Main Body and are user interchangeable. The Regular Format Insert (RFI) is included with each InfiniVar CFM-2/S and accepts two supplied Cap Lenses: Standard (STL) and Compressor (CTL). Both Cap Lenses screw onto the top of the RFI and are also user-interchangeable. The STL Lens provides the full range of 0-9x, while the CTL Lens provides 0-5x. The CTL's range is particularly useful for image processing at the highest possible resolution with larger objects or smaller format (2/3-in. and less) sensors.
InfiniVar CFM-2/S for Large Formats (Camera & Stand not included)
The Large Format insert (LFI) covers formats up to and including 24 x 36mm (the traditional 35mm format). Consequently, the LFI can be used with virtually all DSLR cameras and scientific/industrial sensors. The LFI replaces the RFI in the InfiniVar CFM-2/S's Optics Module. Then, by adding two additional T58 spacers (supplied with it), the LFI maintains the full focusing range of the InfiniVar CFM-2/S from infinity down to 18mm, magnifying from 0-10x. Because the LFI can be used with almost any type of video or photo mount adapter, it is a universal format system, capable of being used with small or large sensors—without concern for compatibility.
By using either the RFI with Cap Lenses— or the LFI directly— the InfiniVar CFM-2/S is uniquely able to match the resolution to the pixels of various camera formats. In effect, the "lithography" of the resolution (technically, the size of the Airy patterns) can be matched to camera pixels. The results are images of outstanding quality.
Accessorization
Dual-port and 50/50 Beamsplitter options allow up to two different cameras or other
rear tubes to be utilized with the InfiniVar CFM-2/S. Filters (e.g., polarizers)
can be mounted internally in the infinity-beam, so that image quality is not sacrificed.
Amplifiers can be added either for C-mount (DL 2x and LDL-lockable 2x) or for universal
formats (TX Tube). Please see the Price List for the ongoing accessorization program

InfinVar CFM-2/S in REVERSO mode
The Standard Mode is only ONE of the InfiniVar CFM-2/S configurations. The other is, literally, 180-degrees opposite: REVERSO. InfiniVar CFM-2/S can be FLIPPED and reconfigured for REVERSO mode. All that is required to convert from Standard to REVERSO mode is to add the REVERSO Tube and mount the REVERSO Tube Lens in place of STL or CTL Cap Lenses. Once focused, translation from a fixed point ("up and down") is made by the CFM-2/S' patented (additional patents pending) internal focusing system without essential magnification increase or decrease. This special condition quilifies the InfiniVar CFM-2/S as a CentriTel opic, ideal for "montage" and other high depth of field techniques as well as critical measurements of industrial objects from fixed positions—anywhere from infinity down to 20mm at 1.4x.
